Most traders lose money not from lack of effort, but from looking at the wrong thing.

Candlesticks tell you where price went. They do not tell you who moved it. A single green candle could be one institutional block order or ten thousand retail traders clicking buy at the same moment — same outcome, completely different meaning. Order Flow is how you separate the two.

Three Concepts. That Is All You Need.

Delta: The difference between aggressive buying and aggressive selling within a candle. Price rising while Delta keeps falling — someone is quietly offloading at the highs.

Absorption: A flood of market buy orders hits the tape, price does not move. That means someone has a wall of limit sells sitting there soaking up every bid. Classic institutional behavior.

Imbalance: At a specific price level, buy-side volume overwhelms sell-side volume. When price comes back to revisit that zone, it often holds as support or resistance — the fingerprint of supply and demand left behind.

How Long Until It Actually Works

Grasping the concepts: one to two weeks. Reacting to them in real time without thinking: three to six months.

Order Flow is pattern recognition, not memorized rules. Start on sim, review Footprint charts after every session, log what happens after each Delta divergence. After two or three hundred examples, the patterns surface on their own.

When they do, you will realize you had been entering exactly where the smart money was exiting.
